A NEW NAME

Isaiah 62:2 – And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

Friends, the name a person bears has a profound effect on that person’s destiny. Jabez was given a name by his mother that meant “sorrow” and as a result he went through many challenges. He finally prayed and God turned it around for him. As you pray to God, He will turn things around for you as well.

The man at the beautiful gate was called lame but God changed his name to a man who was walking and leaping and praising God! This year, you will walk, leap and praise God in Jesus’ name because God will put a new pep in your step and a new song in your mouth. It’s your turn to dance in Jesus’ mighty name!

The man at the pool of Bethesda for thirty-eight years was called “forsaken” because he had no one to help him but God turned it around for him. Friends, this year your destiny helpers will locate you because the bible tells us in Isaiah 62 that we will no longer be called forsaken:

Isaiah 62:4 – Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

God changed Abram’s name to Abraham, Sarai’s to Sarah, Jacob’s (supplanter) to Israel (prince). The bible says in Psalms 113:9 that he makes the barren woman to keep house and to be a joyful mother of children. This scripture was made flesh in the life of Hannah because God changed her name from “barren” to “joyful mother of children” which silenced the voice Penninah (her mocker)! God will silence every Peninnah in your life in Jesus’ mighty name! He changed Esther’s name from “slave girl” to “queen”. He changed Ruth’s name from “widow” to “married”. The “woman with the issue of blood” was so named because of her condition. Elizabeth was called “barren”.

Friends WHATEVER name people may have been calling you that God did not give you, I pray you will overcome in Jesus’ mighty name. May God give you a new name. The Bible says who is he that says and it comes to pass when the Lord has not commanded it (Lamentations 3:37). This year and always, you shall overcome in Jesus’ mighty name!

Revelation 3:12 – Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Naaman was called “leprous” but God changed his name to a man whose skin was “restored”. He is abundantly able to do the same for you because He is God, He changeth not. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. With Him there is neither Jew nor Greek. He says that He will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth and turn back your captivity (Zephaniah 3:20). This year you shall run through the troops and leap over EVERY wall and break EVERY bow of steel and SURELY, YOU WILL RECOVER ALL!!!

Everywhere you have been put to shame, He will make you an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations (Isaiah 60:15). For your shame you shall have double honor (Isaiah 61:7). For brass God will give you gold, for iron, silver and for wood brass (Isaiah 60:17). God will hasten His word to perform it in Jesus’ mighty name! Be blessed in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
