I have always loved gardening, however, during this pandemic I have had much more time to sharpen my skills 😊 I have planted colorful tulips 💐 here and there but my passion is to plant what I can eat 😊 I learned A LOT from my sister whom during her fall 2019 harvest, she had SO MUCH fruits “n” veges that she called us to come and help ourselves 😊 I once bought a blueberry plant 🌱 and it gives me satisfaction to see it still thriving 😊 I’m looking forward to enjoying fresh organic blueberries very soon 😊
Just yesterday, I planted the following: cherries 🍒 watermelon 🍉 cantaloupe 🍈 cucumber 🥒 sweet corn 🌽 beets, carrots 🥕 onion 🧅 pepper (different types), tomato 🍅 cauliflower, kale 🥬 lettuce 🥬 spinach, eggplant 🍆 basil, oregano, thyme, parsley, brussels sprouts , avocado 🥑 lavender, and chamomille 😊
I am really hopeful about a great fall harvest (around July/August). Some like the lettuce and okra will be ready before then 😊 I have been composting all through the winter. Compost is when you save kitchen scraps like peels from your fruits and veges and so on. When these decompose they make great organic fertilizer (no chemicals) that you can add to the soil that you plant on. This helps them grow healthy.
One tip I learned along the way is to put holes in your containers so that the soil can drain. You do not need to fill the containers with potting/gardening soil as these could be expensive. Simply place dried leaves, stick, compost, etc at the bottom of your container and then add your soil to the top.
Having little or no space isn’t an excuse ☝️Where there is a will there is a way. You can get VERY creative using cut up milk gallons as pots 😊
Growing your own fruits and veges is not only relaxing and therapeutic but it can also save you on grocery bills and you get to have fresh, organic produce at your disposal 😊
Flower seeds I ordered from amazon 👌
