1 Corinthians 1:26-31 Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” (MSG)
No one can get by with blowing their own horn before God. Beloved, if you must make a noise, blow a trumpet for God! God can use the ordinary. He specializes in using those that are considered ordinary. God is not necessarily looking for sophisticated people but ordinary people (like you and I) who are submitted to Him so that they could become vessels of honor in God’s hand.
James 5:17-18 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
We often think about Elijah as a miracle worker who called down fire from heaven but God introduced him in James 5:17 as flesh and blood like you and I. Beloved, Elijah was a man that when Jezebel threatened to kill him, he took to his heels and began to run for his life! This shows that even great men are sometimes afraid just like you and I. I’M TRUSTING GOD THAT HE WILL ALSO FIND A VESSEL IN YOU! Do you want to be used of God?
TEN IMPORTANT THINGS THAT MUST BE IN OUR LIVES IF WE WANT TO BE USED OF GOD
The vessels who have done great exploits for God were ordinary men subject to temptation just like you and I. When you get close to them you see their weaknesses. They were people who experienced the outpouring of the grace of God.
John 3:27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.
Beloved, the grace of God can cleanse your past and give you a new beginning. MAY GOD DEMONSTRATE HIS GRACE IN A NEW WAY IN YOUR LIFE!
They are empowered by the spirit (1st Peter 1:12).
To be used of God, we must be a people who thirsts after God. Many have a hunger for themselves. I PRAY THAT THERE WILL BE A NEW HUNGER FOR GOD!
To be used of God, we must be a people who have submitted their lives and will to God. Many keep on being in riot with the Holy Spirit. Beloved, we must come to a place of “not my will, Lord, but thy will be done…”
Purity and consecration of heart is very crucial if you want to be used of God. As it is written in Isaiah 6, it’s time to get things straight so that the glory of God can be released.
To be used of God, we must be a people who walk by faith (Hebrews 11:3-6). The patriarchs who did great things for God did so on the platform of faith. MAY FAITH ARISE IN YOU AFRESH!
To be used of God, we must walk in TOTAL OBEDIENCE to the counsel of God.
To be used of God, we must develop our personal leadership skills.
To be used of God, we must be a people who is willing and ready to walk in humility. We must pay the price of humility and abas ourselves so that God can exalt us. Beloved, humility adds to people. It doesn’t take anything from us to compliment others. God resists the proud. Beloved, if God is resisting you, who will receive you?
A NAMELESS MAID WHO WAS USED MIGHTILY OF GOD
In 2 Kings 5:1-5 , a young maid tells her mistress (Naaman’s wife) about a prophet in Israel who could heal Naaman of leprosy. This eventually led to Naamans’s healing.
This young maid found herself in a very difficult place. She had been captured from her homeland (Israel) where she had a great future ahead of her. But despite her present circumstance, her attitude was not bitter but better. Beloved, in the midst of her captivity, this young lady was still making mention of the God of Israel and was still “singing the Lord’s song in a strange land”!
Beloved, God is looking for people with her kind of attitude. How many of us can talk about God’s “goodness” when on a detour in the journey of life? When we are robbed of our identity like this maid and don’t have a say? Will we be angry or bitter? Will we stop serving God? This young maid became a vital link in the chain of a miracle! Even though the Bible didn’t go into the details of what happened to her after her master (Naaman) was healed of leprosy but beloved, I strongly believed that her status changed from a slave to a daughter after that.
The account of this maid shows us that our purpose is superior to our problems. We should celebrate our purpose and not our problems. You can become a link to someone’s miracle.
Beloved, don’t keep quiet. Keep speaking for God. One day Jehovah will speak for you and when He does, He’ll silence all opposition. Speak for God in your office. Speak for God to your neighbor and watch God confirm His words with signs and wonders. Let us pray…
Song: Lord prepare me a sanctuary pure and holy, tried and true with thanksgiving I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.
PRAYER
Father, use me for your glory in a way that you’ve never used me before! Lord, I want to focus on you and not on my issues! Have your way in my life! Father, take my life and let it be consecrated unto you! Father, revive my calling and your anointing over my life! Let a new zeal for you arise in me! Make me a blessing to somebody!
The Lord gave the word; great is the company of those that published it (Psalm 68:11).
