God Can Use The Ordinary

By Pastor Morakinyo Olumodimu, RCCG Victory Temple, Bowie

1 Corinthians 1:26-31  Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” (MSG)

No one can get by with blowing their own horn before God. Beloved, if you must make a noise, blow a trumpet for God! God can use the ordinary. He specializes in using those that are considered ordinary. God is not necessarily looking for sophisticated people but ordinary people (like you and I) who are submitted to Him so that they could become vessels of honor in God’s hand.

James 5:17-18 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

We often think about Elijah as a miracle worker who called down fire from heaven but God introduced him in James 5:17 as flesh and blood like you and I. Beloved, Elijah was a man that when Jezebel threatened to kill him, he took to his heels and began to run for his life! This shows that even great men are sometimes afraid just like you and I. I’M TRUSTING GOD THAT HE WILL ALSO FIND A VESSEL IN YOU! Do you want to be used of God?

TEN IMPORTANT THINGS THAT MUST BE IN OUR LIVES IF WE WANT TO BE USED OF GOD

The vessels who have done great exploits for God were ordinary men subject to temptation just like you and I. When you get close to them you see their weaknesses. They were people who experienced the outpouring of the grace of God.

John 3:27  John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

Beloved, the grace of God can cleanse your past and give you a new beginning. MAY GOD DEMONSTRATE HIS GRACE IN A NEW WAY IN YOUR LIFE!

They are empowered by the spirit (1st Peter 1:12).

To be used of God, we must be a people who thirsts after God. Many have a hunger for themselves. I PRAY THAT THERE WILL BE A NEW HUNGER FOR GOD!

To be used of God, we must be a people who have submitted their lives and will to God. Many keep on being in riot with the Holy Spirit. Beloved, we must come to a place of “not my will, Lord, but thy will be done…”

Purity and consecration of heart is very crucial if you want to be used of God. As it is written in Isaiah 6, it’s time to get things straight so that the glory of God can be released.

To be used of God, we must be a people who walk by faith (Hebrews 11:3-6). The patriarchs who did great things for God did so on the platform of faith. MAY FAITH ARISE IN YOU AFRESH!

To be used of God, we must walk in TOTAL OBEDIENCE to the counsel of God.

To be used of God, we must develop our personal leadership skills.

To be used of God, we must be a people who is willing and ready to walk in humility. We must pay the price of humility and abas ourselves so that God can exalt us. Beloved, humility adds to people. It doesn’t take anything from us to compliment others. God resists the proud. Beloved, if God is resisting you, who will receive you?

A NAMELESS MAID WHO WAS USED MIGHTILY OF GOD

In 2 Kings 5:1-5 , a young maid tells her mistress (Naaman’s wife) about a prophet in Israel who could heal Naaman of leprosy. This eventually led to Naamans’s healing.

This young maid found herself in a very difficult place. She had been captured from her homeland (Israel) where she had a great future ahead of her. But despite her present circumstance, her attitude was not bitter but better. Beloved, in the midst of her captivity, this young lady was still making mention of the God of Israel and was still “singing the Lord’s song in a strange land”!

Beloved, God is looking for people with her kind of attitude. How many of us can talk about God’s “goodness” when on a detour in the journey of life? When we are robbed of our identity like this maid and don’t have a say? Will we be angry or bitter? Will we stop serving God? This young maid became a vital link in the chain of a miracle! Even though the Bible didn’t go into the details of what happened to her after her master (Naaman) was healed of leprosy but beloved, I strongly believed that her status changed from a slave to a daughter after that.

The account of this maid shows us that our purpose is superior to our problems. We should celebrate our purpose and not our problems. You can become a link to someone’s miracle.

Beloved, don’t keep quiet. Keep speaking for God. One day Jehovah will speak for you and when He does, He’ll silence all opposition. Speak for God in your office. Speak for God to your neighbor and watch God confirm His words with signs and wonders. Let us pray…

Song: Lord prepare me a sanctuary pure and holy, tried and true with thanksgiving I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.

PRAYER

Father, use me for your glory in a way that you’ve never used me before! Lord, I want to focus on you and not on my issues! Have your way in my life! Father, take my life and let it be consecrated unto you! Father, revive my calling and your anointing over my life! Let a new zeal for you arise in me! Make me a blessing to somebody!

The Lord gave the word; great is the company of those that published it (Psalm 68:11).

You Shall No Longer Be Termed Forsaken

Isaiah 62:12 – And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.

Friends, the God of Wonders shall fill your life with His wonders in the majestic and victorious name of Jesus. When men are cast down God says there is a lifting up. The bible tells us that the stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner. The paths of the just is like a shining light which shines brighter and brighter. I pray in the majestic name of Jesus that God will show you a token for good in such a way that those that hate you will see that God has visited you.

David had been forsaken and rejected. He was not numbered among the sons of his father Jesse. He was known as the son of a concubine. He was rebuked by Eliab, his older brother, when he went to the war front to check up on his brothers (1st Sam. 17:28). The bible tells us that where we have been forsaken and hated, God will make us an eternal excellency; a joy of many generations (Isaiah 60:15). After defeating Goliath, David certainly became a joy of many generations! The women began to sing praises to David (1st Sam. 18:7)! The bible says in Zephaniah 3:19 – 20 that God will make us a name and a praise among the people of the earth and that he would give us fame and praise in every land we have been put to shame.

You Shall Have Good Success

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Friends, may the Almighty God open His good treasures unto you and bless the work of your hand in the majestic and victorious name of Jesus!!! The bible reference above talks about “good” success. To me this implies that some success is “not good”. The bible says both in Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25 that there is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

God is not a talkative. When He repeats Himself it is usually for emphasis. A good example is Abraham’s nephew (Lot) in Genesis 13:10 who saw greener pastures in Sodom and Gomorrah and went to settle therein. Unknown to him was that it was a cursed land! Consider Naomi in the book of Ruth. She left Bethlehem (where our Lord Jesus was born) for Moab. This wasn’t a wise move either.  While in Moab, she lost her husband and her two sons before returning to Bethlehem where God restored her! Friends, the grass is only greener where it is watered!!!!  The rest of this message has been recorded on my YouTube video (see link below or search YouTube for “you Shall have good success Margaret Doherty”) After watching, PLEASE like and subscribe to my YouTube channel 😊 I hope you are blessed in Jesus’mighty name.

There’s No Language God Doesn’t Understand

By Margaret Morenike Doherty

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork (Psalm 19:1). Friends, the winning side is the shouting side. So victorious people,  shout unto the Lord with the voice of triumph.  Friends, the bible states in Psalm 149 “let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand”.  The bible tells us “Judah begat Perez”…  “Judah” means “Praise” and  “Perez” means “Breakthrough”. THIS MEANS THAT PRAISE BEGATS BREAKTHROUGH!!! Beloved,  Psalm 67:6 tells us that when we praise God “Then shall the earth yield her INCREASE; and God, even our own God, shall bless us”.

The bible tells us in Psalms 19:3 that there is no language nor speech that God doesn’t understand.

Please watch me in this YouTube video (link below) as I praise God first in English and then in the two Nigerian languages that I am connected with.

I hope you are blessed in the awesome name of Jesus 😀

Let’s Keep Our Vineyards

By Margaret Morenike Doherty, daughter of Zion

Songs of Solomon 1:6 They made me the keeper of vineyards, but my own vineyard have I not kept

Jesus told a parable about a man who had a log in his eyes 👀 yet was more focused on the speck in his brother’s eyes (Matthew 7:3-5).

Beloved, charity begins at home 🏡 We ought to spend more energy on developing and improving ourselves than finding faults in others.

Let us look within 👀David said in Psalm 139:23 “Search me, God, and know my heart”.

Friends, the only person we should try to be better than is the person we were yesterday 👍

The bible tells us “where there is no vision, the people perish”. When we remove the log in our own eyes 👀 we will have clearer vision. We will begin to see with the eyes of an eagle.

As we run our races, may God bare us on His eagle’s wings IJMN. 🤗

Watch With God 👀

By Margaret Morenike Doherty-Aka

Habakkuk 2:1 – I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

Happy Terrific Tuesday ! Habakkuk made up his mind to stay up one night and watch to see what God would say to him. In the second verse God told him to write down the vision. You’ll be surprised at what God can and will reveal to you if you watch with him!

Beloved, “watching” is a type of prayer. Jacob watched with God. He said to God “I will not let you go until you bless me!” And as a result God changed his name from Jacob (supplanter) to Israel (prince). The bible tells us that he that keeps Israel never sleeps nor slumbers (Ps. 121:4). Since God never slumbers, then you can stay up one night and watch with him while others are slumbering. Let him know that you are watching with him. I can guarantee you that you will not go empty handed. God will begin to put ideas in your inner man and desires in your heart. The bible says in psalm 37:4 that we should delight ourselves in the Lord and he’ll give us the desires of our heart. As you watch with God, he puts desires in your heart. If after you come out of watching with God and you feel very strongly about something, I’m almost positive that it is from God.

Saints of God, prayer is a two-way affair. It is not just about you going on and on but also a big part of prayer involves LISTENING to what God is saying to you. You need to learn how to tune the antenna of your spirit man to a very high frequency.  After watching with God, He can lead you to a scripture that has your answer. God said in the bible that “my sheep hear my voice” (John 10:27). Are you God’s sheep? Is He (God) your shepherd? If so, then listen to His voice!

We are to watch and pray so that we don’t enter into temptation (Matt. 26:41). We are to take heed and watch and pray for we do not know when Jesus is coming back (Mk. 13:33). In the book of Matthew Jesus asked his disciples to watch with Him:

Matthew 26:38 – Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and WATCH with me.

But the disciples got bored and fell asleep. Jesus found his disciples (who were supposed to be watching) asleep and this conversation ensued:

Matthew 26:40 – And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not WATCH with me one hour?

Friends, God speaks to his children regularly. If you have never received a revelation, vision or a word from God, you may be sleeping too much. God gives His beloved sleep but how long wilt thou sleep, o sluggard? (Prov. 6:9).

Stand upon your watch and watch what God will say to you. The bible says in the book of Daniel that God shows us secret things. Make yourself available to God. Watch with God if not for an hour, then for a fraction of an hour.

As you watch with God, I pray for you for revelation from God’s throne of grace. God will increase you more and more in Jesus name. You shall know the hope of your calling in Jesus’ name. You shall move forward from glory to glory in Jesus’ name. As you delight yourself in the Lord, every of your heart’s desires will be met in Jesus’ mighty name. Remain blessed in Jesus’ mighty name.

Where Have You Pitched Your Tent ⛺️?

By Margaret Morenike Doherty, Daughter of Zion

Acts 2:26b …I have pitched my tent in the land of hope.

Friends, when you’re down to nothing, God is up to something. It’s not over until God Almighty says so and He hasn’t said so. Break out of that rot. Be a prisoner of hope. Develop the “I am a victor, not a victim” mentality. Get out of the land of discouragement, self-pity, I don’t have any friends, nobody likes me, this is my lot in life, and so on and so forth. Your time is coming. If there is hope for a tree, rest assured there is more hope for you – a masterpiece of God. God has the right people picked out for you. Some people are not meant to be in your life. You have come to your Rehoboth. God will make your officers peace. Sons of strangers shall bow down to you. You will not die unsung. You will be celebrated. Be encouraged. Have a great week.

Made Strong By Faith 💪

By Pastor Morakinyo Olumodinmu

The story of Jephthah in the Bible is a classical example of the stone the builders rejected becoming the head of the house [Psalm 118:22].

Indeed, men’s reject are God’s elect, so thank God for the rejection you have suffered in life. If that stone were “accepted” by men, it probably wouldn’t have become the chief corner stone. Sometimes, you have to be rejected by the system to find your place in God! That is the story of Jephthah.

Jephthah had a very shameful past that went very deep. He was a son of a prostitute. So his mother was a prostitute and the father patronized prostitutes though he had a wife that gave him children. In Israel of those days, it was a huge reproach to come from such parentage. It was a shame that could not be easily shaken off.

When his half brothers grew up, they threw him out of the house, claiming that Jephthah would never share in their father’s wealth. So he was rejected by his own people, disconnected from the family’s wealth and driven into poverty.

FROM ZERO TO HERO!

But Jephthah refused to give up on himself. He worked on himself over time, and became not just the champion of his family but also the deliverer of Isreal.

Jephthah rose from a zero to a hero because he took time to connect with God and also connected with himself. How did he connect with God? He basically developed his faith in God [Judges 11:11] by the word, and that made a whole difference. Understand that nothing is stronger in life than your faith In God.

Secondly, he connected with himself by discovering his hidden talents and capabilities. Who could have known that there was a mighty man of valor hidden in a rejectee? In cooperation with God, Jephthah developed himself to become a mighty man that all Israel could turn to in a time of crisis. And that paid off. That was why he became a leader of Israel, and a person we talk about today. By really working on himself, Jephthah made it into God’s roll of honor of faith [Hebrews 11:32].

You must not allow your negative past to arrest your glorious future. You should turn to the Lord with the whole of your might and heart. God can use your life for something beautiful and glorious upon the earth if you are purposeful in your heart.

Giving your life to Christ is the foundation for a glorious turn around, dedicating yourself to Him is the game changer. Make that move today, make this year count for God! Connect with God and you will find the grace that makes life make sense. You too can wax strong through faith, you can obtain promises, you can escape the edge of the sword, you can stop the mouth of lions, you can subdue kingdoms through faith in might of the Almighty God. I see you rising in Jesus name!

Isaiah 54:4 ” Fear not; for thou shall not be ashamed, neither be thou confounded ; for thou shalt not be put to shame; for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth , and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
