1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
Covetousness is synonymous with greed. It is a strong desire for wealth or possessions. Jezebel convinced Ahab to have a man murdered because he wanted his vineyard! Many run into a lot of tight corners trying to be like “the Jones”! Stop trying to be like them because chances are that God has deposited something in “you” that the “Jones” would love to have. Guard it jealously. God is a God of times and seasons. Enjoy the season of your life that you are in at the moment. Learn everything God is teaching you in the season you are in and rest assured that He will take you to your next level IN HIS TIME.
Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
There’s a story in the bible about an employer that hired workers at different hours of the day but at the end paid them all the same wage. Friends, let’s not feel bad when others achieve something before us. Be happy for them and rejoice with those who are rejoicing. Ours also will come. Let’s count “our” many blessings and name them one by one. If it had not been for the Lord who had been on your side, what would you have said? Friends, if God opens our eyes and shows us what he has delivered us from, we will thank him every minute of every day and will not have time to envy any one!
Peninnah had no class and probably didn’t have the spirit of God in her. This was why she tormented Hannah. But guess what? Penninah’s torments drove Hannah into a fast and God blessed her with a great prophet Samuel and many other children. No one has heard about any of Peninnah’s children! At times, we need “Penninahs” to drive us to our divine destinies.
There’s a quote that I love which says “Life is the most difficult exam. Many people fail because they try to copy others not realizing that everyone has a different question paper!” Beloved, many people are notorious for what I’d like to call the “follow-follow” syndrome. These people have the desire to walk in the footsteps of others! For as many as are led by the spirit of God are called the sons of God. Five plus four equals nine but so does six plus three as well as seven plus two. THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO GET TO THE SAME DESTINATION. There is also a way that seems right to man but at the end is destruction.
Many will be spared a lot of financial tight-corners if only they would “cut their coats according to their sizes”!!! I don’ know about anyone else but if I can’t afford an expensive vacation I can always pitch a nice big umbrella in my backyard and have picnics with my family. In fact, there was a particular summer that my kids kept asking me when our vacation was and I kept telling them that I’d let them know. Friends, the truth was that the money was so plenty that I had no idea when the vacation would be (I hope you can read between the lines). And then all of a sudden my sister told me she had made vacation reservations with her kids and we could come! Beloved, it was as if we packed our bags before she finished her sentence! In fact, we beat them there and had to wait in our car as we couldn’t check in without them (smiles). Beloved, there’s no shame in the game. I love to be transparent. I don’t need to impress the Jones. May the Almighty continue to cover our nakedness in Jesus’ mighty name.
Do not cast away your confidence in the Lord. After you have suffered a while the God of all grace will establish and settle you! THE BLESSINGS OF THE LORD MAKES RICH AND ADDS NO SORROW!!!
I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that we will have “good” success (because there is such a thing as “bad” success). Paul said “having food and raiment, let us be content” (1st Tim. 6:8). This doesn’t mean we have to settle for the status quo. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that we will not follow a multitude to our destruction. I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that every single day we will count our many blessings and name them one by one! Remain blessed in the mighty name of Jesus!
